We won 3-2. The team we played was pretty technical but full of young players 18-23 and they made lots of mistakes and weren't quite as strong. We had many opportunities but only finished 3 and they had only a couple one being a pk that they scored both on. They had some pretty nice training grounds but nothing out of this world. I played well, created lots of opportunity. I played on the left. It was an interesting game because it is a group of players that all know how to play relatively well but have no idea who each other are and things are definitely out of sync. The talent that was brought from the states is okay but the players they brought from around here or that have been here are a little better. Everyone is trying to play in this league because it is said to be easier to get working visas and things for Americans. In the afternoon we played futsal to get the legs loose and I went for a run because my legs still felt heavy. I ran to the grocery store and they didn't take Visa check cards only mastercard so I had to leave my groceries and run around to find a new place. The world does not lie, Belgian chocolate is very good. We eat our meals all at the campus where we are staying and the food is all very similar to American food only a little bit more bland. Westerlo and where we are staying looks lots like Portland, Oregon and the northwest of the US. Except all of the houses look like Gingerbread houses. Everything here is pretty close to America, it seems there is a lot of money in Belgium and in makes sense since Brussels, BE is considered the capitol of Europe. All the kids ride bike and the adults drive nice European cars. I have never seen so many BMW's in my life. The biggest difference for me that is obvious though is the fact that every mile or so, there is a soccer field. Every park has either a field or a futsal area marked off specifically for soccer. Nets and proper goals too. The futsal parks have built in goals and lining. You never see that in the states. I have not seen one American football field or any other sport field for that matter. Crazy huh? What it would have been like to grow up on this side of the world.
